Finally we get the trailer to Spike Jonze awesome looking version of Maurice Sendak’s classic book Where The Wild Things Are. I’m extremely excited to see the lack of complete CG characters and a return to good ol’ puppeteering which is much more visually believable. The movie is definitely gonna be badass.

PLUS Black Thought even drops a verse! I apologize for the Hulu ads, but i wanted to bring it to you in the highest quality.

Feel free to tell me what’s working, what’s not working, how i can improve on something, and/or what you may have done differently. All these post will have a critique tag so if you wanna go on a crit rampage, you can. i’d really appreciate the feedback. Be positive, but don’t pussyfoot. You won’t hurt my feelings.

Loaded Deck: Read Post

52 cards. 4 suits. 40 spots. 14 faces. The Playing Card has a long, long, history dating back to the Tang Dynasty in China. The modern cards we play with are European influenced, which include the royal, mildly depressed face cards and Jokers. I’ll spare you the long, illustrious, and exciting time line of the 52 so i can show you a couple of interesting modern decks i’ve come across that put history on history.

So here’s a preview from paper cohort Matt Hawkins of his book titled “Urban Paper”. Inside are DIY paper models designed by 25 of the best paper toy makers around; myself included. The actual book drops in April, but you can pre-order it on Amazon as well as look on the inside and read my delightful interview with Matt.  i’m really excited to actually see what it looks like in person.
